2nd Annual Movember Tournament

There was great enthusiasm when it was announced we would repeat the charity tournament which was held last year during November. What a great month, allowing us guys to go ahead and grow Mo’s and look like paedophiles all in the name of charity.

The venue this year, after having an outdoor event last year at the Mutual astro, was decided to have an indoor tournament. Which proved to be a great idea since the rain and wind was pumping.

Best dressed (or least dressed) team this year went to Tosser’s Mo’s & Ho’s who were sporting some lumo gear and barely anything else.

As per usual there were those teams who decided to go all out and forget it was a charity event and go out to win it. Yes Central and Team Dutch im talking about you guys. Who unbeknown to us normal folk, by that I mean people nursing hangover and running being the furthest thing in our minds, found out on the day we would be playing against a few provincial players.

There were a lot of enjoyable games played. My favourite had to be against “The Sellecks”, a team organised by Figlett and Shin.

The day was packed with some fantastic hockey and a lot of booze, yes all went to charity. There were certain teams that refused to partake in our beers for charity and preferred to stay sober while playing hockey. But all of Rusty’s teams would like to remain anonymous and not be mentioned. The rest of thought its for charity so why not, then proceeded to get smashed.

In the end some ‘great’ hockey was played, some good fun was had and at the end of it all we actually ended up raising R1,500 for prostate cancer. I think that this tournament will definitely be repeated next year!
