30 January 2011 - WPCC - A (Indoor)

Good morning boys

Two games under our belts, what a great come (on the) back. Few things before our game on Tuesday @18h30 vs WPCC B. This is a must win game. Conberg smashed them, so we have to do the same.
1.       I don’t think we held on too long at the back this week. Probly cause we barley had possession.lol
2.       Marking in general was bad, but then again its like Vis in his Tata, having a dice against Piles on his poogie…… Vis doesn’t stand a chance. Those boys were just too fast or fit to keep up with. But I think we did well. I think Bob set a new record with number of times subbed in a match
3.       I think in the second half when we played that really low press it worked quite well. But our guys must be more patient and not rush into things.

30 January 2011
Venue: Wynberg Military Base
Opponents: WPCC A

I think its fair to say that no one wants to relive the 1st half against WPCC, except maybe the last 2 minutes.
But lets go thru a quick recap.
Bob and Vis seemed to tag team the centre position with 3 minute bursts….if it was that long.
Then there was a bit of a blur for me.
I believe it was
Shorty – goal
Shorty - goal
Shorty – goal. So WPCC are just like the song, shorty really is a goal.

We got a little flustered. Boogies ended up upfront again….i think he plans this.lol
Then we got back into the game again and held them off for a while.
Then it happened again. BAM!!
Two more goals. I’m sure one was a field goal. Theother could have been a shorty again.

Being 6-0 down, I don’t know about you guys, but it  felt like their drag flicker had a bit of deep heat on cause I was burning. Finally we get a shorty. I look to the bench and see Parker (our pusher) Vis (our stopper) and Bob (our back up stopper and flicker). Up steps Tosser.
Stopping the ball himself, (which is probably the best stop he has received all season) smashes the ball past the goalies left foot, the ball crashing into the back of the net.
Halftime score 6 – 1.

During half time talk there was a lot of cuddling, crying and tissues being handed out.We ended up with a goal for the game being 4 goals. Let the record state that Vis promised the next three goals.

Second half started, pretty much straight off the blocks we got a shorty which bob put straight at the keeper….i wont even call it average. lol. Some tactical changes were made. I think our press worked really well in the second half. Really narrowing their options.

They scored another goal. I saw Fridge start to rub his back. Then as always our team finally moved into second gear. (If only we could do this in the first half) 6-pack finally scoring a slip drag again. After his two failed attempts last week. Gave us a little more faith in him.
Booiges then pulled off the tackle of the season so far. Sending a WPCC player over his shoulder. I still have no idea how his stick ended up 10 meters away.

Even though it was a little faster than Vis’ “lifeless, semi retarded, broken lap rat” from the previous game, it still made it to the goals….just. Now im not really sure which goal came first? There was an awesomely average drag flick from top D and then a Oscar nomination on the P-spot. I think as a team we should try to sell it, but not that much.lol
Tosser with the drag and Import getting on the score sheet showing great composure with a self appointed P-flick after Vis took a tremendous dive.the score card read…
Dismount            : 7
Difficulty              : 8
Landing                                : 10 – since it looked like his face cushioned his fall.

They slipped one more goal late in the second half, but the damage was already done. Lime actually getting to the ball as it was slipped from the top D, and being out muscled and the ball tucked to the pusher and in the goals.
Good news is that we achieved our goal of 4 goals in the game.
We scored more goals off shorties than we had before (three)
And we barely let in a single field goal.

Lime and Bollie both had decent debuts. Limes scribbling Rudi til he eventually just gave up and jogged back, Bollie throwing in some hard tackles and no lazy feet?

Special mention should go to our Mexican import who, I think, had played his best game so far this season. Probably because he spend 80% of the game on the bench. Special mention can also be taken away from him as this is the first game he has not scored in….Vis we better start sorting out his working VISA for the 2s…..

Final Score Mutual 4 – 8 WPCC A

Next Game:
Tuesday 1st   @ 18h30 vs WPCC B
A txt will be sent to you later today if you have been selected for the game on Tuesday, please confirm asap. Again this is a must win game. I have spoken to the Guys in the WPCC B side and told them to each start a veggie patch at home cause we are going to give them carrots.

Outstanding money
Besides Lime who is paying me tonight. Well done guys. No bad debts….well I think? I will have to check.
Sorry Parker but you haven’t actually paid for next weeks game, my bad. Everyone is up to date.

Sorry it has taken so long to finish this match report, but I am still feeling the effects of yesterdays game. Im only able to remain seated for 3-5 minutes at a time….

Yours in awesomeness
Tosser
