Venue: SADF
Opponents: Fishhoek
With our 1st game in little under 2 weeks, it felt as if the season was restarting. The guys seemed fairly relaxed when arriving, and extra- motivated when new cap Brundle showed up too with his usual loud and energetic self.
With the Hoek arriving without a keeper, it was more about how much we could win by, especially since we started the day at top of the log. Willson decided a toss wasn't nesserciary and as such we allowed them to have the ball as they wouldn't see it much apart from that.
The 1st 5 minutes were slow yet with our new strategy of playing from minute 1, we were for once not putting ourselves under pressure. With Brundle and Skywalker playing it around the back all day (#toldthem), it was only a matter of time before the Hoek tired, and duly they did, with Fanny forcing a shorty. Import stepped up and scored with ease. Mutual 1-0 Hoek
With Mutual all over them, and with Tosser running the bench superbly,( Tosser - Yes i was amazing #toldme) it was only a matter of time before another goal. After forcing another shorty from Willson's stickblocks, I heard one of their little schoolboys scream as Import got his 2nd. Mutual 2- 0 Hoek
With half-time approaching, Hoek forced a shorty and old Mutual (you mispelt #Conberg) player Cuddles stepped up and had his drag. Unfortunately his counterpart Giger made a great save in the bottom left corner, although we all know he loves doing the splits so I don't know how much credit is due. From this we burnt down the right with Dutch and forced another shorty which was saved on the line, only for Brundle to tackle the ball into the goals. Mutual 3- 0 Hoek Half-time
With the 2nd half going fairly similar to the 1st, we allowed the Hoek into the game slightly with some long balls and overlaps. Eventually their goal came with a neat flick past Giger in the shorty. Mutual 3- 1 Hoek
With both teams creating chances and with the game getting fairly scrappy, Curly and Agent took it upon themselves to show the schoolkids in the Hoek side how to play. I think 1 of them left the field crying to their fathers. Having seemed to get into their heads, Dutch played a great one-two and it left Fanny open to score from top D. Mutual 4- 1 Hoek
From here the game became quite open but Mutual took it by the scruff of the neck and after a turnover at the halfway an easy pass found Willson in the circle who put it away. Mutual 5- 1 Hoek
With the game signed and sealed we thought it was only fair to score another, which we duly did with Import getting his hatrick from another shorty. Mutual 6- 1 Hoek
Well done to Brundle on his debut.
That makes it 10 points from a possible 12 and sits us on 1st place in the log.
Final Score Mutual 6 - 1 Fishhoek
