16 February 2012
Venue: Sunningdale
Opponents: Pinelands
Pointers from this game:
1. Great use of the whole field on attack.
2. Fantastic overlaps on attack.
3. Held the middle well on defence.
With the side staying the same for the 1st time this season and with the lads already having qualified for the playoffs with 2 games to spare, there was reason to be relaxed on arrival, which duly showed. So much so that Brundle arrived 20 min into the game. #Blame nature. No Lands team is ever weak, and we wanted revenge for losing to them 3-4 last year, so the lads were fired up. But never to the extent that I was expecting.
Starting the game similar to last week by actually keeping the ball and being composed, it wasn't long before overlaps took place. This resulted with a neat 1-2 on the edge of the circle and Import pushed it past the keeper. Mutual 1-0 Lands
With Mutual completely dominating, 2 shorties were forced with Import missing the one and the keeper saving well with the other. Dutch decided it was time to stop moping on the bench and his 1st touch was to earn a shorty. Wanting to show everyone that he can do better than Import, he fired (and I mean fired) the ball into the roof of the net. Apparently they are busy fixing the net as we speak. #THAT QUICK! Mutual 2-0 Lands
Another shorty was one after some of the best interchanging ever seen at this level, which Dutch put away in the utmost top left corner. Mutual 3-0 Lands.
The Lands got into the game a little after this and were awarded a shorty after a poor call from the Mutual ref (thanks Bondi #ToldHim). Giger made an easy save #TellBasil and a quick breakaway resulted in another shorty. With us being such good people, we knew that if Dutch dragged again someone would die, so a slip was called. Fanny ended up poaching the already goal-bound ball. Mutual 4-0 Lands (It was at this time that nature went to sleep as Brundle turned up)
Once again easy overlaps were everywhere against these slobs (#toldthem) and a 2 on 1 with their keeper ended up with Dutch getting his hatrick. Mutual 5-0 Lands
Half-time was near so we thought it was only fair to get another, which Import did from another shorty. Trying to emulate Dutch, he sent the keeper the wrong way and scored. Unfortunately he still needs to gym as it was slow (in comparison.) Mutual 6-0 Lands Half-time
The Mutual half-time team talk revolved around whose mom was hotter, yet this didn't deter them from starting the 2nd half the way they finished the 1st. (Tosser - I've got money on Tatty's mom. What a belter. #WeWillKnowSoonIfSheReadsMyBlog) After a Lands attack was extinguished, Willson found himself on the other end of the field, no doubt because he has one helleva hockey brain and defos not cause he was lazy, and after a great ball by Luke (still no nickname), Willson took the keeper on and nuttied him. Mutual 7- 0 Lands (Tosser - 6Pack you let me down, I expected you to stick block the keeper)
Lands were a much bigger force this half though and had already made Giger save twice in the 1st 5 minutes, one more save might I add than he had in the whole of the 1st half. Eventually our guys decided to be nice and give them one goal so that they didn't commit suicide after the game. Mutual 7- 1 Lands
After that goal Mutual decided enough was enough and completely ran Lands into the ground. With our stretching of the field killing them, as well as Brundle, Curly and Lukes love for overlapping numerous chances were maid. Import ended up on the end of a rebound (#toldhim) and flicked it home for his hatrick. Mutual 8- 1 Lands
With the okes clearly having fun as Curly and Luke were playing strikers and Fanny and Import playing defenders, it still did not disrupt play as our real attackers tackled like machines and our real defenders had many chances to score but they typically missed. #bad selection (Tosser - This happens when youngsters run the side Mr. Powell #DeadToMe). Wilson decided to show them how it was done and stickblocked his way past 2 beacons only to round the keeper and score. Mutual 9- 1 Lands
Brundle finally got a call about Leopard poo and from here it was clear to see the fire in his eyes as his life-long dream was accomplished. He decided to honour wildlife by running circles around 2 average Lands players and sending the keeper the wrong way on a 1 on 1. After laughing at the keeper his tapped it in. Mutual 10 - 1 Lands
Fantastic game guys, last league match in 2 weeks against Wpcc C. A win guarantees a well deserved top spot! Apparently all the Lands players have quit hockey and are going into the line of making ladders, beacons and hockey sticks so that they can learn the game before they play their next match.
Brilliance personified
