So after a successful season to date, it came down to the last game a win or draw could seal the title for us. However we couldn’t just assume the Titans would just lie down and let us walk over them (ok maybe we did, Shhhhh don’t tell them)

Venue – Sunningdale
Opposition – The Titans
On arrival at the venue Speedbump made note that the staff were not aware of our pending game, she I mean he was flapping a little and was pretty worried the game was not going to happen. With each teams players arriving slowly but surely we saw that three of the Titans players seemed to be amiss, Craker and Tampon, frantically BBM’ing everyone cause they were lost and when we finally got hold of them they were parked outside the venue at the engen garage. #epicfail. There last player Storti, said he was coming through but just didn’t arrive with no explanation, o wait that was Tosser’s wedding. #tellhim
With Vis and Goose to umpire vis made the comment of blowing for the draw, we were ok with that, cause a draw would keep us in 1st place, and essentially being team #3 from mutual being promoted for the season.
The game started very well and our intensity and tempo was good from the get go, our first goal came within the first couple of minutes this allowing us to calm the nerves. The goal was a well worked number of passes starting at the back with a quick trough and a ball down the borads to dazz you pulled it around his defender and slipped it passed the keeper. Vikings 1 – 0 Titans
The Titans pulling one back and keeping themselves in the game, and forcing us to run after them while Shooter in the centre was distributing the ball well. Shooter scored there goal from a short corner. Vikings 1 – 1 Titans. The short corner was debatable, though this thing about having your hand on the guys back and him rolling on the ground after his shin pads were cracked from the tackle is not all my fault, the hand was just a pat on the back to say good luck and the broken shin pads are from him running to fast into Elsie’s stick. However Vis saw it the other way.
Our work rate increased after conceding the goal and we made every attempt to hold onto the ball and not throw away possession, all in all it was pretty decent and we were allowed to score another 3 goals before the end of the first half and conceding none.
The second goal was a well worked passing game from our forwards working hard to control the ball and moving it quickly between them and having Tombraider chase after them before puppy (only playing in his 2nd game of the season) slotted an easy goal.
The third goal was more of the classic Viking movements Bruce dribbling (spittle from his mouth) and also the ball, passing (or did he?) to speedo who nicely laid it off to speedbump who in classic speedbump fashion almost missed. Vikings 3 – 1 Titans.
As half time approached we realised that this game was probably going a little easier then it should be! So we let them get back into it a little, they attacked we defended and neither of us scored. Half Time
The Second half started the way the first ended, us playing kak and leaving them to run freely, resulting in numerous short corners in their favour, we basically chased the ball for the first five minutes, on one of the short corners they made good and scored. Vikings 3 – 2 Titans
Realising that this could be the turn around in the match we decided to get ourselves involved, and won a short corner, we huddled top D and decided on the shortcorner, (we practiced before the game for about 20 min and various ideas and had decided on a specific one. In the huddle we chose a completely different one, lol, this however worked in our favour as the pass to puppy was firm and the flick was true, but like import it was only straight at the keeper. But fortunately for us the keeper made it dangerous and we got another chance, this time puppy slotted it. Vikings 4 -2 Titans
They pulled one back, still not sure how it happened I blame everyone else! Vikings 4 -3 Titans.
Realising that a loss would really dent our pride for the season we played to win and we made some really good passes, and this resulted in Dazz Picking up Goal #2 for the day. Vikings 5 – 3 Titans.
Another set of passes running from the free hit on our top D enabled Dazz, to pull the keeper out his goals and off his feet ( reminds me of a story Bollie told me about pulling, you probably all know it ) and he cheekily flicked it in. Vikings 6 – 3 Titans.
Dazz scored another, im not really sure how it happened but he is convinced that it did, so I will give it to him. Vikings 7 – 3 Titans.
A good end to the season, having played 8 Winning 7 and losing 1 (bloody Milnerton guys always know how to mess up our fun)
