Winter League Game Week #1 - vs UCT B (Mens 1 s)

p.s. don’t change the working of my match reports or add to them or I will stop sending them to you #justsaying (Tosser – I promise not to change it…..but there might be adding)

Date: 14 April
Venue: UCT
Time: 16h30
Opponent: UCT B

The 1st team is currently made up of a 16 man squad.
The average age working out to 21.63, but once Bob, Bollie and Piles retire this will drop considerably.

Only 13 players were available for game 1.

Key points:
Clearing out of the danger zone, can’t go to opposition.
Involving centre link to switch play.
Staying alert after scoring.

While we wait for the return of Suffix we have a makeshift defensive line up, with Agent in the centre.
A bit of a worry because he had stressed that he wanted to score an own goal for UCT, much like he did in indoor.

He would be beaten to it however as a UCT short corner shot which was so wide it was going to be a hit on the side of the field for us, was deflected in by Blunder, I mean Brundle. Besides that error, Brundle would become one of the players of the day with his movement off the ball. (Tosser – I thought Bob had amazing movement off the ball, well great movement miles away from the ball in Hermanus – seems like I have found my centre link for this weekend)

UCT other two goals that made up a 0 - 3 deficit were courtesy of bad clearances which were slotted by boys in baby blue.

We would pull one back on the counter with Piles driving up the line, pulling down baseline and then squaring to Giggles who finished with class.

HT: 1 – 3

There would be a mild uitkuk at half time, but the team must’ve listened, because not to long into the second half LG forced a short corner.
The Zig Zag was called and was clinically finished. 2 – 3

We were still reminiscing about the goal when UCT pounced to make the gap 2 again. 2 – 4.

Bollie thought he would congratulate Lime on moving to UCT with a brick wall tackle, Bollie 1 – 0 Lime.

We continued to press forward, dominating possession, Fanny then scrimimaging the keeper who rewarded him with an ackle tap and he went down faster than Ashley Young, earning a p-flick.(Tosser – would have preferred the anal-ogy, ‘went down faster than Vis at an orgy’ but hey each to his own.) Import was given the honours and calmly slotted. 3 – 4.

Our confidence seemed to grow with time and on the stroke of the final whistle Piles forced a short corner.
A straight drag was called from the bench, but the ball was miss stopped at the top of the D, falling to an unlikely backstop in the form of our trusty left back Breezy who took the ball in and forced another short corner.

The team got into a huddle and I thought they were going to change the call, but lucky for them, they didn’t and Import slotted a rocket passed their beacon between the sticks, the team celebrating like they won the league, lol. (Seemed more like winning the world cup to me)

FT 4 - 4

Team have a break due to U21 IPT, but play 3 games in 6 days, the first being:
Tuesday 1st May vs new boys Somerset West.
