So after a bad loss the weekend before the guys were ready
to play and keen for their first win. From the Vikings tour we knew our best
tactic, and decided to once again rely on this tried and tested strategy. this
strategy being go out have a biggy the night before, to ensure we were nicely
hungover for sunday's game, LOL.... joking. However a one of the Vikings took
this tactic to heart and started Friday morning while watching the Stormers
game, so by that night when the team started to see who was up to what the
following conversation ensued on the Vikings group:
Team: ''Team: Who is going out?"
Bailey: "I am piss already, i don't know where i am.."
Bailey: "But there is lights, and i am in.."
Team: "Blue lights?"
Bailey: "Not yet''
this from Bailey one of the quietest players on game day, for when he talks up its a big surprise.
Back to the match report, the guys met up at the astro a good hour before the start at 3pm, but Northlink only had 5 guys down and waiting for more to come down. They requested a delay to the start, just a few minutes, we said ok cool we wil go have a ''cooldrink'' and have a team ''chat''.
At 3:15 we decided to wait no longer (even though their keep, who had been there for 30min, hadn't started kitting up). Northlink with 8 on the field and not providing an umpire the game got under way with us relying on Bastick to blow by himself. Of the 1st attacking move we had a nice break trought with Mullet runing into the D and making a good shot at goals and scored.
Mutual 1- Northlink 0
As we restarted, they had managed their own break through and their unmarked center forward put it away for a quick turn around goal.
Mutual 1- Northlink 1 (2 min played)
After a couple of comments of oh well lets start again we got under way, moving the ball round.. with some good passing between players, Dazz receives the ball takes it into the D. Dazz connects nicely and the ball rocketed towards the goals, almost hitting a Northlink defender. The Defender (who we would have nicknamed Dildo as he was so useless) with a thoughtful look on his face jumped into air where he tried to air punch Dazz.
a few minutes latter, Ross steals the ball and makes a amazing pass into the D where Mullet picked it up, right infront of the keeper and finished it off into the nets. #keeper thought he was gonig to die as his life flashed before his eyes.
Mutual 2- Northlink 1
Most of the rest of the half was uneventful before just before half time when Randy made another break through, passing it to Speedbump who touched onto Bum, who finished it off.

Soon after that the Northlink link, runs into up our right side getting passed 3 mutual players. Goose steps up to try tackle him, but he lays it off to the now open centre forward, who finishes it off.

Second half kicks off..
Ball goes to the backline with some good passing around between Bailey, Yates, Goose and Dan well play guys. The ball manged to go up the line to Ross who switched it al around with a masive square pass to Mullet, 1 on 1 with keeper.. Makes the keeper look like a beacon as he rounds him, composes himself and puts away his hatrick.
Mutual 4- Northlink 2
Northlink not happy at all and proceed with a heavy offensive, getting it to baseline entering the D they play it onto Goose's foot and convert the shorty.
Mutual 4- Northlink 3
The game goes on both teams playing hard and pushing for more goals. Not long after that Dildo (that Northlink defender) ran behind Speedbump who turned around for a swing at the ball. Almost hitting Dildo aswel, and pushes Speedbump out the game in retaliation. Having already warned him Bastick sends him off with a custard.
With their worst player off, Northlink gets better attacking ball and mange to score another goal. #I told u that
player was useless.
Mutual 4- Northlink 4
Not long after the yellow carded Dildo (I mean player) gets back onto the astro the centre forward decided to make the game interesting, after calling various players "P#@s" (you know that Cape Flats slang for a woman's privates), Basil decides to warn him one last time. A slight argument ensues with Basil telling the forward to shut it. The forward being a real wise ass decides to flip Basil of and that enough Basil awards him a green. The forward then launches into a tirade of claiming he didn't say anything so basil has no rights to send him off, eventually his captain persuades him to leave the field. But not before he turns to Basil stating "ek sal jo frek maak". Does Basil call the game? Upgrade to a yellow? Nope, green stands.
The game resumed, however the forward was trying to make good his threat, retrieving a screwdriver from his bag. He waves it around threateningly shouting "Ek wag vir hom, hey moet af kom", before one of his own players takes the weapon off him. A couple minutes latter Basil calls him back onto the field (Really?).
With him back on to the astro mutual makes a nice break trough with Bailey hitting it into he D. Speedbump picks it up and finished it off into the goals.
Mutual 5 - Northlink 4
With only seconds remaining in the game Northlink get awarded another shorty, stright to top, slipped to their right, straight poke and Northlink have their 5th goal.

It was a very exciting game, and to all the teams who have not played them yet and still have too, don't for get to take your tool box with u to the game, mite need it.
