Winter League Game Week #2 - vs Somerset West (Ladies 4s)

Date: 21 April 2012
Venue: Somerset West
Opponent: Somerset West
Time: 15h00

So the second week of matches for the ladies fourth team commenced on the 21st of April. We all trekked our butts down to Somesets sand, sorry I mean "grass" fields, if you could call them that. So as the match got started, Somerset decided that they will start with the ball, which I was quite keen on, as I got to choose direction of play for my team. So with Mutual starting play into the sun for the first grueling 35 minutes in the heat, things started off rather badly, with one of Somersets old timers taking the ball and making a run up the field and scoring their first goal.

This seemed to wake our team up a bit and sparked some life into the game from there on forwards. Denying Somerset any more goals time after time after time. With some amazing saves , our goaly played as if she was a much older meaner version of her 11 year old self! Keep the great work up Cameron, show those tannies that you aren't intimidated by them!

Mutual kept up a good defensive first half and managed to keep a second goal from being scored.
After an inspiring team talk by our "keeper" for the day, Bollie, we were ready and rearing to go for the second half.

In the second half mutual came into the game attacking and made many great runs up the field, showing that the team is starting to come together nicely. Although the best shot at goals was made by new comer, Almina, which was slightly off centre. As Mutual got a shorty, the whistle blew to signal end of game. We had one shot at equalising, so pressure mounting, we took the shorty, tried the shot, and it was messed up by Somersets attacking defense.

Even though it was a loss for the team, it is amazing the way this team is coming together! Keep watching this space, as we have the biggest heart and biggest fight in the mutual family. This is going to be one unstoppable team!

So with two weeks of practice ahead of us, we are going to work harder than ever, and come out fighting in our 3rd match on the 4th of May.

End score:
MCPUT 0 - 1 Somerset West

I will return to the kitchen now...
