Hello Green and Blue.
Date: 21 April 2012
Time: 13h30
Venue: Paarl Gym
Opponents: Paarl
4s take out the Plaas Jappies!!!!
A few kinks to work on for the next game:
Learn to play in an oven... and the last 20 minutes of
the game
So we all arrived at the grass fields ready to go at
11:30 just incase someone was late... after realising that Thombraider was
already on his way and Rusty needed to be picked up in Kraaifontein we drew
straws as to who was going to fetch him, threw the straws away and voted for
Laggies to fetch him figuring he could communicate with the locals having the
only car with mags in our convo. We left
Cape Town for our Voortrek to Paarl. On our way there we saw a Red Ferrari and
took it as a good Omen. We stopped at Paarl Spar to get a bite to eat when this one eyed
waitress walks up to us to find out which sport we play, I looked at Cracker
and Tim, and responded with Rugby. Without a flinch she asked who we played
for?? ( clearly rugby teams out there come in all shapes and sizes!!!)
We arrived at Paarl Gym and realised we were walking into
an inter-schools against Tygerberg. We drove through realizing if Goose had
been our ref he would have died at the hands of one of the very large fathers.
We sat on the side and watched Paarl Gym beat Tygerberg
12 nil, Tygerberg had clearly been watching Mighty ducks as the flying V was
being used, not very affectively, but they get points for consistency.
Parents weren't to happy with me shouting FLYING V from
the stands...
oh well tough cookies.
So we warmed up, it was about 40 degrees so warm up was
pretty chilled.(Tosser - OMG, next time I'm going to include my entire weekend in my match report as well)
The game started and with a couple of runs at there
circle, Cracker and Johno (Tosser - known as HarbiJohn) making a few 1-2s, eventual on his 1st game in the
green and blue Johno found the back of the net opening his hopefully generous
account at Mutual. Paarl countered but were stopped in their tracks.
we found the net again and the socre became 2-0 to
green and blue. Some how they countered and due to and ill timed sub they
scored.
HT score 2-1 to Mutual
During half time we watered our boots down bit concerned
they might become a fire hazard, chat was good, a 'keep it going' attitude, we can do
this, another 4 will get us a bonus point!!!
Second half started well, we hit the turf burning, couple
of movements round the back saw us move forward and snatch another one. Mutual 3 - 1 Paarl. At this point it was decided that we were all dehydrated so started
making subs all over the show and letting Cracker and Tim do a bit of long
corner training which due to Tim's great angle shot put another away Mutual 4 - 1 Paarl !!! After a little counter attack, for some reason Liam ran the ball
straight up the middle and what can only be compared to the parting of the Red
sea smashed the ball straight at the keeper who eagerly spread his legs ( must
be Liam good looks without his glasses) Mutual 5 - 1 Paarl. Liam decided that it was his move of the day and became the 5th defender. Our forwards decided short
corners would dominate the rest of the game and got so many I lost count.
After realizing the game was coming to an end and we
didnt have that 5 goal difference I began shouting at TIm to put one more away,
he didnt seem to here me as they carried on with who can shoot with the
tightest angle.
Final score Mutual 5 - 1 Paarl
Point to ponder: If the ref say his Rusty believe him.
New rule a flick at goal can be dangerous if on target who knew
Yours in Green and Blue (94.5% of the time)
