Date: 26 May
Venue: Pinelands
Time: 13:30
Opponent: Pinelands
It was time again for the Ladies 3's to try keep the momentum going, but we knew that this should be the toughest game to date. Pinelands had a decent start to their season but seemed to be dropping some points in that last few games. We still wanted to win this one to keep up with Somerset West who have yet to lose or draw a game...
So the match started on the Pinelands cabbage patch with one of their Ladies in a tootoo..wth!
We had some support (thanks 'Clean Sheet' Spur and Mona, a few others too) and felt like we could take this one. The game was a bit frustrating as we have come to learn exactly how frustrating it can be on the grass.
We had most the possession through out the whole game but as with the previous grass matches, we found it tough to get that clean shot on goal. Pinelands only has one decent player in the middle of the field and when she got hold of the ball, our half's stepped really well to make sure she lost possession or play was broken down.
Half time: Pinelands 0 - 0 Mutual
We spoke during the break about not getting frustrated and lets keep up the pressure, they were sure to crack at some stage.
At half time it seemed as though Pinelands made a tactical change....of umpires. In steps one Austin Smith to prove that you can play and captain your national team, but it doesn't necessarily mean you can umpire #tell him. And he proved it....
The first and only goal of the game came 10min into the second half. A bit of a goal mouth scramble and the ball ended up at the feet of Boomerang Cat. She kept up her impressive goal tally with another great finish. Pinelands 0 - 1 Mutual.
After then we kept up the pressure, with one or two of the Pinelands ladies making some decent runs in our half. There most promising attack came after Mr Smith cost a free hot outside our D when it actually hit a Pinelands player on the foot. They managed to get it into the D and literally had the ball a few cm short of the goal line. I was pretty sure there was a foot on the line from one of our players but Mr Smith gave a shorty....cost for a cost...
From that, Tiny managed to pull off the save of the season when the Pinelands forward took a fantastic shot from top D, going into the bottom right corner of the goal (my heart had stopped at this point), but Tiny reached out with the tip of her kicker and sent the ball wide #unbelievable!

Talking points:
- keep plugging and they will
cave....
- grass is definitely not our
strong point
Special mention to Aaminah on
her 3's debut. She had a fantastic game and we hope to keep her.
After a couple photo moments
with girls in awe from Austin, we relaxed after a much deserved win. Well
done Ladies.
