Good morning guys
The thorough bred 3s are still unbeaten! Things to focus on
or mention:
1. No
cards and clean sheet – Good job.
2. At
times the links are not getting back to defend. I know our defence is amazing,
but we do not get that bored at the back.
19 May 2012
Venue: Hartleyvale
Opponents: Pinelands
So the through-bred 3s arrived at Hartleyvale with
expectations that this was to be another tough match. So as always we seemed to
leave the warm up quite late and managed to get half an ozzy in for Sherman to
warm up. Yes a warm up. First time that has happened in three games.
As usual we started playing Iron man, (This seems to have
become a habit with the 3s with Winders and Sparky arriving late. 11 Men and no
subs) we seemed to go right into attack mode this game not even feeling the
Pinelands side out or trying to spot their weakness. This proved to be the
right attitude with Blake finding himself in just enough space in to slap home
a pass from Pete. Mutual 1 – 0 Pinelands.
Pinelands hadn’t even really centred off yet and we found
ourselves in their D again pushing for the second. Rusty (Welcome back after
being promoted from the 2s back to us) made a great break down the centre of
the park forcing the aging goalkeeper to commit and slipping it under him to Blake
to quickly double Mutuals lead. Mutual 2 – 0 Pinelands.
Pinelands tried desperately to slow the game down, breaking
down play when they could and then beating river ball upon river ball to
relieve pressure. FINALLY Scooter decides to break his goal scoring virginity
and get on the score sheet, realising what he has been trying to do for so long
(Smash the ball thru the keepers head) didn’t actually need to be done. A
simple ‘blake finish’ was all that was needed. (2 meters from the goal line
slap). Mutual 3 – 0 Pinelands.
The 3s, soon to be known as the Mutual Sharks, could smell
the blood on the field and decided to go straight for the jugular! With Winders
braking down the line and slipping a 45 pass to Demon who received it halfway
inside the circle, finishing it on his reverse. Two amazing feats happened
there, Demon on the score card (Not for being sent off the field) and Winders
making his first pass of the game. Mutual 4 – 0 Pinelands.
Pinelands managed to get into our half of the field and make
our amazing sweeper look like a beacon. A school boy scramimaging him on base
line, only to come face to face with Mick who put in a great tackle to see the
ball clear. Mutual seemed to turn off the gas burners for a few minutes after
that and allow Pinelands into the game. Pinelands giving a few quick 1-2s and
breaking our defence for the first time. Having a shot toward the bottom corner
of the goals only to find Shermans stick, who made an amazing full stretched
stick save to his right. (This would be the only action he got all day….until
he got off the field)
Moments before the half time whistle sounded, Blake decided
to seal the deal with his first hatrick of the season. A ball being smashed
across the D and having the weakest of touches to it. Blake foxing the keeper
with the lack of pace on the ball, but who cares, it went in. Mutual 5 – 0
Pinelands.
At half time the boys were all in high spirits, a couple
of jokes involving a broomstick were made. But we focused on the task at hand.
Since Vis was not in the goals this week, we had a chance to get that long
awaited clean sheet.
The second half started and all of a sudden we seemed to
be under immense pressure. Probably for the first 7 minutes of the half.
Shooter will tell you that this was because he started the first 7 on the bench….I
and leaning towards agreeing with him. It seemed like as he stepped on he
calmed the storm. So after 7 minutes of flat out defending we resumed our
attacking mind set.
It took a while for the next goal to come. Scooter thinking its time to catch up on his goal scoring tally caught a ball on the half volley and smashed it into the goals! It was really one of the most well worked team goals I have seen in ages. The ball moving from right to left, back to the right, up the line and back out. Was really wonderful to see the team gelling so well. Mutual 6 – 0 Pinelands.
Mutual now getting some forward momentum and wanting to
up our goal difference. We were awarded
our first short corner of the game, Tosser stepping up to the top of the D
(realising his current form) wanted nothing to do with this shorty. We (By ‘we’,
I mean ‘I’) decided that a slip to Caveman would do just fine. What happened
next I have no idea how to explain, a missed stop which rolled over Cavemans
hand. Caveman did a quick pirouette and getting the ball under control he
smashed it into the D only to find our poacher Blake on p-spot to score his 4th
and Mutuals 7th goal. Mutual 7 – 0 Pinelands.
With the game well in the bag and a couple of minutes
left, Winders came to the party as well, from p-spot as well (I think Blake
should have trademarked his scoring technique before this game). Mutual 8 – 0
Pinelands.
With Mutual winding down the clock now, thinking about that
victorious beer we were going to have after the game in the changing rooms
right next to the broom closet. The strikers seems to still be hungry for more.
Another great passage of play saw young Spud get the ball to the right of top
D, then with all the strength the little guy could muster up roofed the ball. I
mean he hit that ball so hard that when it bounced off the net the keeper hadn’t
even moved. It was so fast the poor keeper didn’t even have time to shit
himself. Mutual 9 – 0 Pinelands.
Final Score Mutual 9 – 0 Pinelands
Next Game:
Saturday 26th May @ Mutual
Time: 18h00
Opponents: Somerset West
With another win in the bag making it a total of 4, we are creeping
closer and closer to that benchmark figure of 13 wins for the season. Somerset
West has not had many favourable results this season, but as always no team is
to be taken likely in this league. A goal difference of 7 is separating us from
the young ladies 3s in the race for team of the season, the “Thorough bred” 3s
with a game in hand.
Yours in awesomeness
Tosser
