Date: 25 May 2012
Venue: Mutual Astro
So, before i start this match report, I need to give you
a bit of history regarding this match.
As we all came down to practice on Tuesday, eager to
learn and play, we saw a new face in our midst. So we all welcomed her with
open arms. Her name was Katie (surname unknown unfortunately). So we got
practice underway, everything going well, but Katie looking admittedly
uncomfortable. Piles came over looking to poach, sorry I mean borrow a few of
our players, and asked who was keen? Katie's hand immediately shot up, very
keen to go join the 3s practice. So off she went (along with our little Amy).
End of practice everyone went home happy.
Thursday practice rolled round, everyone had fun etc etc
etc. although Katie was strangely absent from this practice.
Friday night, match night.
So the 4th team ladies rock up at the mutual astro super
keen to play our match. We all get together for our team talk and briefing. We
then go off to do a little warm up. As we are walking, low and behold, we see
Katie, In Milnerton kit! Wearing a tour top from the previous year or 10, she
had that aged look to her face. She was a Milnerton player! And out of the
mouth of a Milnerton player, sneaky Katie had told them all about our
practices!
Wow really people? Your teams are so bad that you need to
stoop to spying on the green machine that is Mutual 3's and 4's? Quite sad!
(and I hope that somebody tells them)
So with the match starting, Milnerton had scored within
ten minutes, mutual shortly followed with a shot at goals from Jaclyn going
slightly wide, but thanks to a well placed stick from Robyn, we got the
deflection into the goals, and thus Mutual evened out the score. Rest of the
first half followed with no more goals from either side.
Second half, defensive play from both sides, with the
ladies 4's really upping their game and playing together like a well oiled
unit, really putting their skills to work. Alas, no goals from either side,
brought the game to an end in a 1 all draw for the two teams. Mutual huddling
around for a quick team talk, and throwing as many dirty looks at sneaky Katie
as possible. Well, Mona threw a lot of looks, and quite a few comments about
sneaky Katie to Milnerton as soon as she was subbed since the first half.
And with the end of this report, I would like to say,
listen to what your mothers always told you, and be careful of strangers! And
Goose. And Bastick.
Final score: Mutual 1 - 1 Milnerton
I will return to the kitchen now...
Mona
