Winter League Game Week #2B - vs Somerset West (Mens 1s)

MGC
Mutual CPUT vs Somerset West

Two players returned to the squad, Bob from Exile and Suffix fresh from U21 IPT. (Tosser - Well done Bob for taking selections into his own hands and injuring Boogies to make the side. Also for 'buying' your work VISA)

This week would see us playing 3 games in 6 days so a squad of 15 players was utilised.

Key points:
Clearing out of the danger zone, can’t go to opposition (point remains from week 1 – clearly not many read this blog)
Creating offensive short corners, we seem to be able to create defensive short corners with ease.
Keeping the ball out the circle when umpire is blind, which in MGC is often.

With a squad of 15 there was cover all over the park and the break didn’t seem to have any negative effects on our squad as Piles fed a pass to Giggles in opening minutes of play. Giggles showed composure to beat the last defender and keeper and finish from a tight angle on the reverse #bastick take notes.

Somerset never looked like scoring a field goal, so they relied on the guy in a different shirt with a whistle, who clearly left his guide dog at home this week.

Bondi struggled at times with cramp, could be something he picked up on tour, I am sure there is a cream for that. (Tosser - What happens on tour, stays on tour.....Except that stuff you picked up, that goes home to your girlfriend....or boyfriend. We aren't judging you)

Piles did his best to hold off on tackles and channel his opposite number, o wait, no he didn’t and because of that was regularly made to look like a beacon.

One of the highlights was LG’s shave tackle on Rosso # Owned!

We definitely enjoyed more of the possession, but some listening skills were lacking and the points covered at the half time break were not absorb and we were punished accordingly.

Sommies converting 2 short corners to wrap up an underserved win, a big thank you to Butcher, who lived up to his name, cutting up what was a good game.
(Tosser - Wish I could have been a fly on the wall for the post match ....lets call it a 'chat')
