Opponents: Pinelands A
Venue:
Mutual
Date: 26 May 2012Time: 13h30
Another
tough fixture against what we knew to be some quality opposition in the form of
Pinelands A. We had worked on our weaknesses (Raff, which is why he started
bench) during the week and had confidence that we could produce a result. This
confidence was clear as we completely dominated the opening 5 to 10 minutes of
the game. The first few chances we had I think we couldn’t believe our luck at
how easily we got into the D so we buggered that up royally. Vis finally added
the opener with a simple finish.
Pinelands
got a huge wake up call from this and immediately upped their game and our
chances dried up quickly. We were soon regretting acting like deer in
headlights in front of goal as Pinelands won a shorty. They proceeded to bury
an absolute blinder of a drag!! Boogs, standing at post man, didn’t even have time
to cover his nose as the ball flew into the top right corner. It was clear that
by later displays NONE of Mutuals top “dragflickers” ,Bob, Raff, Import, Tosser
#tellThem, were taking notes (Tosser - In my defence - and yes my team has a defence - you are trying to compare GC and TC dragflickers with a M4 flicker #JustSaying. Would be the same as me telling you that Bruce Jacobs is a much better player than you. But yes i have scored one, check the score cards). Although I think the ladies 2s may have scored
one???
Pinelands
continued to dominate play although they didn’t have much in terms of open play
chances due to a slightly improved man marking performance issue by Mutuals
defence. However, they won shorties easily and made us pay for our
inability/stupidity to tackle outside the D!
At
this point I should bring up the point of our wonderfully untalented Raffs for
this game….wow….I eventually stopped complaining because they were KAK but
amazingly not bias. Amongst several dodgy calls Pinelands added 2 more short
corner goals which should be noted to as how they were rewarded. The first: A
Pinelands brown person made a run along the baseline where he proceeded to
dribble out, then pull the ball onto his own foot and then on the Raffs foot…16
right?? Not a chance, shorty!! The second: Pinelands player is making a
baseline run, Boogs channels him, I step into to make a clean tackle and put
the ball out…long corner right?? Shorty is the call again!! To make this worse,
the ref was about 2 meters away from both incidents. We received a lil justice
when Curly lunged with his foot, stick nowhere to be seen, to stop a goal bound
bal…P flick right?? Na, shorty again!!
Okay
Ref Rant over…Pinelands had control of the game although we still created a
chance or two which we couldn’t stick away. Then we had a marathon of shorties,
5 in row!! We proceeded to screw them all up and eventually were running outta
ideas and decided on letting Bob have a drag, which was a horrendous idea as he
put it WAY wide. Pinelands added a fourth field goal to round up their scoring
for the day and left the score at 4 – 1.
It
was a disappointing loss that left us 10th (Tosser - Out of 10?, my strikers are not for sale) on the log and in
desperate need of points, but Pinelands A is a quality side who deserved to win
on the day. It pointed out more flaws in our defensive game that needs work.(Tosser - Your defence , like you, have no game. #ToldYou, #DodoKnows, #TooSoon?) We
have a double header this coming weekend with Central and a trip to Stellies.
And on the side, at least we didn’t get fucked 7 – 0 like the 1s!
Result: Mutual 2s 1 – Pinelands A 4
