Opponents: Somerset West
Venue: Mutual

With a losing streak of note, it was time for the girls to pitch up for
a game and get cracking, pity the fish hoek sisters got that memo late
(apparently better late than never *thinking pose*). After a few rescue
club practises out of the sandpits and rough on the warm up ‘fields’ (the home
of THE MOLE), the girls were amped and keen (except for the heat that the one
fish hoek chick ordered) and it was onto the turf with enthusiasm.
Tippex asked
the refs who would be reffing which side and naturally picked the opposing side
to Bastick for the first half! With the refs and goalies and players
ready, it was game on. After ten minutes, good possession and some up and down
the pitch warming up it, was time for subs with super sub bench warming duo of
Nicole H and Bubbles injecting in some fresh legs and shouting (Bubbles for the
screamer, Nicole H for the legs). Sonic scrimmaged through the defence to set
up a ball for Fresh Legs to slot it in the goal after the keeper forgot her
first lesson in “How to be a lady 101 – Close your legs slag”. 1-0 to the
Greens!
After their attempt at a come back, lucky marble holder Eezi (in
her sock I might add) started the attack from the back (Bastick was prob behind
her, so it was a quick burst), letting the ball do the work and encouraded the
switch to Panda. Panda took it into contact with some fowling from the other
side. This lead the Sommies ump to let Panda know it was her ball to which she
replied “Yes I will marry you”. Seemed a bit easy really, but then perhaps it
wouldn’t be the first act of this kind from an Indian lady in the club…. This
shocked Sommies into retreat and the greens team took the ball up and forced
the shortie! India
“Monster” pushed out the ball to El Capitano, Tippex, who pulled the ball and
pushed it towards post. This shocked everyone in the d so much that the
concentration was lifted and the ball trickled over the line to make it 2-0.
Well done Capi, we didn’t think that tactic would work! Half time…
We knew they would come back hard and so got in their quickly, Princess
took a cracking shot at the keeper who saved it (she must like it hard), but
the rebound found Dory Balboa who caned it in to make it 3-0! This scoring was
unusual for us (except for the vice captain maybe #tellher), and so Sonic the
scrimmager started to feel the pressure and slotted our third goal in by
adopting the good ol’ push fashion after a cross into the D. 4-0.
It was
at this point that we finally thought we would take a break from hockey and
perve at Austin Smith on the side of the pitch (our Awesome SA Captain).
Sommies saw this as a perfect time to attack and some long corner scrimmaging
and p-spot placements and bang, Sommies made it 4-1. This woke us up to start
attacking! Short corner saw Bubbles take over pushing out (after begging to,
seems familiar that she’d beg the youngens #tellher), but then saw her missing
the perfect opportunity to score (also familiar #tellheragain).
With that the
end of the game was brought about by Bastick (probably prematurely) with the
Greens taking the browns (ew gross) 4-1 for their first win of the season.
Rumour has it there were some awkward moments after when the girls rushed Austin for photos and then
having ‘deleted’ it had to bowl him over for more pics… Obliging amazing
captain had the girls giggling and sweating so much that they forgot to take
their fines! #teamfail, but not after incorporating Yes into the Game of life
at least 6 times! Well done girls!
All I remember was Austin Smith, yum!
